2012 is on the Horizon

With 2012 fast approaching the ADBUC team has started the planning for January's tourney

Date: Confirmed to be Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of January.

Format: Mixed Division will be back.

Rego: Will be similar to last year - opening in late November / early December with deadlines, team payments, early bird discounts and opt out player options.

Size: Due to council permissions and tourney restrictions - again in 2012 - only 8 teams will be initially accepted.

So talk NOW to your league team or your club about coming to the Gold Coast early in 2012

In case someone is actually reading this site ;-) We thought it'd be a good idea to post that preparations for the tourney this weekend are full stream ahead.

Australia Day Beach Ultimate Championships 2011

Rego will open at NOON (QLD Time) tomorrow Dec 15th

Place - Coolangatta - Gold Coast - QLD - Australia
Dates - January 22-23, 2011 (NB Australia public holiday is Wednesday 26th)
Format - 5-5 Mixed Beach Ultimate. 2 guys and 2 girls with offence deciding the sex of the 5th player
Team Size - Capped at 10 players
Tourney Size - Capped at 8 teams for now - on 2 fields of golden sand
Team Fee - $300 (early rego only $200*)
Player Fee - $30 (opt-out bases - to cover individual player costs like a Steak Dinner)

Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and Bunch and late Lunch on Sunday will be provided.

We are excited to announce tourney information for teams interested in the AdBuC 2011.

Details about the tourney and weekend

Place - Coolangatta - Gold Coast - QLD - Australia
Dates - January 22-23, 2011 (NB Australia public holiday is Wednesday 26th)

The rego process explained...
Ask your mates (no all star teams please)
Register on the afda site after rego opens and deposit the relevant team fee into the tourney account (only refunded if we can fill your team spot)
Minimum rego is 4 guys and 3 gals for this event.
Use your team number from the afda site as your reference for your bank transfer.
Email the AdBuC team on natman82 at gmail dot com outlining your team contact details and payment details
Pay the player fees by the due date (only refunded if we can fill the players spot)
Book your travel and accommodation/floor space and GAME ON.

2011 Dates and format

Heya Ladies and Gents,

The ADBUC team have been working hard off the beach to secure the space and dates for this year's Tourney.



Dates: 2011 - Saturday 22nd of January - ADBUC beach tourney

Sunday 23rd - Beach Worlds Training/ Beach Pick up


Wednesday 26th - Aussie Day Public Holiday



Location: New tourney location at Coolangatta Beach (1 beach south of Kirra - last year locations)

Saturday ONLY

ADBUC will be on Saturday 23rd only in 2010

With 5 teams compeating it will be a great day at the beach

Round 3 - Moved to Kirra

Due to popular demand and to save on travel times.... Round 3 of the BUS on January 3 (this Sunday) will now be at Kirra not Kingscliff.

So head to the park/beach just north of the Kirra surf lifesavers flags by 2pm ish and we'll play sandy beach ultimate till you drop.

Watch your email/the weather just in case there is thunder and lightning then we can't play.

ROUND 2 at Kirra - CANCELED

Due to rainy weather and lame numbers the 2nd round of the BUS at Kirra has been canceled.

ADBUC goes MIXED

It is official - for 2010 the ADBUC will be a mixed tourney. Offence decides the ratio - the rule is that both sexes must be represented on the field in all points.

The committee has decided to run one more year of mixed to encourage league teams and interstate teams to join us on our lovely sandy beaches in SE QLD. We do see Open and Women's Divisions being the future of this tournament and perhaps one day all 3 divisions playing.

So talk to your league team mates, your ultimate work mates or even an old foe... get you team together because REGO will be open on Friday 18 December and teams will be LIMITED

BUS Round 1 - Noosa

Hey die hard beach lovers,

Sunday - 22/11 is almost here.

What: The beach, a disc and some fun.... we will enjoy ourselves no matter how many people show... so let's do it. Plus i think my family will join in... and that's possibility 10 people right there.

Where: Noosa main beach - down the river month end (NE/NW wind forecast so if smoke is a hazard or wind is too strong we MAY move to sunshine beach on the southern side of Noosa Heads - 10 mins drive) but we will still meet at Noosa Main beach ie first option.

Organised and pre booked "pick up" style beach ultimate. On or around the 3rd weekend of each month over the summer months... just 1 day and likely to be for half the day giving you a chance to chill at the beach for the rest of the weekend if you like.

----- LIMITED SPACES --- ONLY 32* ---- first in and paid play.

Rego to open 2 weeks before each event and is $5 till the Sunday (ie 15th Nov) before the event then $10 for late regos (ie 16th till 21st Nov)

2010 - 2 days ultimate 4 days of beach?!?

Dirt Cheap flights from Melbourne, Adelaide and now Sydney direct to the GOLDY have made us organisers get this email and date claimer out there sooner rather than later.

Games for all interstate teams will start after NOON on Saturday January 23rd and play all day Sunday January 24th. So you can get there on Saturday morning and make a weekend or 4 day holiday of it.

The tournament beach, party and recommended accommodations will all be between North Kirra and Coolangatta - almost walking distance from the Gold Coast Airport.

So what to do now - if you are super keen book your flights....
get your team mates and stay tuned for more info coming very soon

We would like to match the Ultimate season and have Open and Women's Divisions but we need your feedback so please email in the next 10 days - if you are keen to enter a team (particularly Women's teams) and a decision will be made within 2 weeks whether we go for Open and Women's OR for Mixed.

Teams (and roster size) will be limited but no interstate/international team will be turned away plus the BLOKES and SHELAS pick up teams will be available for Aussies and Internationals a like looking to play.

Rego on the afda site will be opening after the Divisions issue is sorted and it will be first in and paid gets to play ;-)

OK get into it..... you could be the CHAMPIONS but only if you're there.

Date for 2010

Australia Day Beach Ultimate Championships are penned in for Sunday the 24th of January. Giving you the chance to go to the coast for a long weekend or even a 4 day holiday with Tuesday being Aussie Day.

Thanks to those that came along to the inaugural comp, from the smiles and the swimming - it seemed like everyone had a great day.
The results will be recorded as the A team beating "D"fence!! in the final.

Change to mixed hat style

Hi Ultimate players, the tournament has metamorphosed over the last week... due to numbers, we are going to play a mixed hat.
1 day - only Saturday and only $30

and be there at North Kirra at 9:30am for the hat draw on Saturday and watch the website for last minute updates.... ie plans for after dark
